A quick catch up

I have only had wifi once since my last post, however we were so worn out when we got to the hotel that we didn't have a chance to do anything, in addition, that morning, due to another time change, we were again so tired that when we woke up we had to hurry and leave. We have covered many of our trip highlights have been covered in the last few days. We spent a day and a half at yellowstone where we tried to see a little of everything. We walked to a few waterfalls, saw many geothermal pools and saw Old faithful geyser in addition to some small geysers. The thermal pooka were my favorite because it is something unique that you cant really see many places. The pools ranged from crystal clear turquoise pools that were anywhere from a foot deep to seemingly bottomless to boiling pits of mud or simmering shallow puddles. After yellowstone, we drove for a day and the next day we saw devils tower (a giant tower of volcanic rock socking up randomly in the middle on nowhere) and mount Rushmore. I also had my first encounter with wild prairie dogs which have become my new favorite animal. Which reminds me, in yellow stone we had the unique opportunity to see a wild grizzly and two baby cubs cross the road. We were very close, close enough to make me a little nervous that the grizzly might get scared and maul us. Anyway, after devils tower we saw mount Rushmore today we made it to our final destination, wadena MN. We will be here till the reunion is over. Kiley is getting on the plane Sunday in Minneapolis because she has summer classes, but the rest of us will drive home together.

Today we left riverside at 9am and drove to bear lake, a beautiful clear, blue lake. We were trying to visit some caves in idaho right by bear lake, but when we got there all the tours were booked for hours so we had to move on. We drove and drove and drove, without many stops until we reached our final destination, pinedale, Wyoming. My cousin Kiley's father lives here and her and Maddi's grandmother also lives here. So they got to do some visiting. Tomorrow we will wake up early and head to yellowstone.

Kiley and I didn't sleep well last night because we spent the night on the bus. Our bus arrived to Reno at 6 am whereby cousin Maddi and my grandpa picked us up and we got on the road to Utah without stopping at my grandparents house. We fought up on some much needed sleep through the nevada desert. The scenery changed only slightly and ver gradually. So it seemed like we drove forever through the middle of nowhere. However there were some beautiful scenes of some mountains, unique terrain and the pale white salt desert in the distance. Now we are about to get some sleep in a small farm town called riverside Utah. It's a very rural town but cute none the less. We will head into Wyoming in the morning. We did make a quick stop on the Idaho boarder just to take a picture by the sign. So far a good trip, but the best part of the day is going to be avoid night sleep in a real bed.

Off to a bad start

Well, not such a great start to our family vacation. We missed the afternoon bus that was supposed to take us to Reno. I wont go in to details on how that happened, but it is not good. So we will have to take an alternative bus which leaves at 1:30am. I dont know why there sent any buses that leave sooner than that, but that is our only option. Which means we will get into Reno at 6am and get strait into my grandfathers van and head on our trip, I guess I won't get to spend some time with grandma and her 2 cats (whom I love like my own pets). I am not happy about this situation, but hopefully we can make up. Some time on the road.

Roadtrip

I leave on my trip tomorrow, I am so excited!!! First stop is Reno Nevada where I will meet up with my grandparents and maddi then Friday morning we leave on our. Trip!!!! Yay! Me, my cousin maddi, my cousin Kiley and my grandpa are going to drive across the north of the country to Minnesota for a family reunion.

Where I would be right now.

I love traveling, but to be honest spring is the best time to stay right here in Marin. The flowers are in bloom, everything is green (or more green than usual, since it is always green here). I am not a fan of the cold weather, but the cold rainy days that still sporadically occur among the nice sunny days, create the abundance of flowers, and plants. and all the animals are out (its mating season) playing, finding food, and, you start to see baby squirrels, ducks, and deer. I love it. It is the best time to go on hikes because it is not to hot. Yet, is is warm enough to lounge around the pool absorbing the sun. It is still to cold to go to the beach in my opinion, and my pool is not heated so I wouldn't dare get in it this time of year, but knowing the summer is just around the corner brightens my spirits.

If I were to go on a vacation, I would travel to the Caribbean before the hurricane season hits. Or, I would visit Jordan. Petra, one of the new 7 wonders of the world, is a place I have been dieing to visit, and March is the best time of year to do it. In the summer, the desert is way too hot. and in the winter, when it does actually rain, that area can flood. You can fly into Israel and take a day or overnight trip to Petra, or you can just fly into Jordan and stay there. There are many places that are amazing this time of year, and the prices for traveling are not as expensive as they could be in high season (summer for some places, winter for others).

Complete FAIL!!!

Well, I admit I fail at this blogging thing. I had a wonderful 4 week vacation in Paris, the south of France, and Israel and I failed to keep up with my posts. In addition, over winter break I went to Guatemala, Belize and Mexico. So, there obviously haven't been a lack in adventures, but I just really suck at posting anything. Because I plan on traveling so much more in the future, I will try to post on here once in a while, so I hope everyone enjoys.
